PESHAWAR: A divisional bench comprising of Chief Justice Peshawar High Court (PHC) Justice Qaiser Rashid and Justice Abdul Shakoor has disposed-off Competent of Court (COC) after assuring that Statistic Bureau has completed all arrangements for enlistment of ‘Kohwar’ in national languages thru upcoming census, on Wednesday.
However, Council of Common Interest (CCI) has final authority to approve enlistment of ‘Kohwar’ language, the PHC told during COC petition filed by Shahid Ali Yaftali Advocate.
The COC seeking implementation PHC orders granted during 6th census for did not enlisting ‘Kohwar’ in national languages and directed for inclusion of ‘Kohwar’ in upcoming census which is third largest spoking language in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The petition argued that ‘Kohwar’ did not enlisted in languages in proforma issued for 7th national census by Statistics Bureau while it is contempt of court.
Deputy Attorney General Altaf Ahmad and Assistant Commissioner Statistics informed that the bureau has completed arrangements for enlistment of ‘Kohwar’ language but it shall be approved by Council of Common Interest while PHC has disposed-off COC in this regard.
