PESHAWAR: A divisional bench of Peshawar High Court (PHC) comprising of Justice Rooh-ul-Amin and Justice Ijaz Khan ordered Secretary Communication and Works (C&W) to appear before court on 10th November in Contempt of Court (COC) petition, on Friday.

The COC filed by C&W’s employees including Sub Divisional Officer SDOs Naimat Gul and Shoukat Shah while seeking implementation of court’s order regarding promotion on 20% quota in secretary C&W and Establishment were made respondents in the petition.

The petition stated employees are serving department from 32 years while holding Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech). The petition further argued that promotion of B. Tech holders in dull-drum since 2017.

The petitioners seeking promotion to BPS-18 as Executive Engineers because PHC has ordered competent authorities to conclude recommendation within two months while a high-profile committee has declared that C&W should review its Rules and pave way for promotion of B. Tech degree holders. The petition further argued that competent authorities did not implementing court’s orders as well as the committee recommendation while PHC has directed Secretary C&W to appear before court on 10th November regarding implementation of court’s order.

Court imposes Rs50 thousand fine on ADC Nowshera: Peshawar High Court (PHC) has imposed Rs50 thousand fine on Additional Deputy Commissioner Nowshera and annoyed absence from court proceedings in Botanical Garden Azakhel, on Friday.

During hearing Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid remarked that is in this petition government has made blunder? While Additional Advocate General Syed Sikandar Hayat Shah, Abdus Samad from syndicate, Wasim-u-Din Khattak and Legal Advisor Riaz Ali Khan appeared before divisional bench of PHC.

PHC had adjourned hearing for sometimes and directed district administration Nowshera to appear but Chief Justice Qaiser annoyed attitude of Additional Deputy Commissioner Nowshera and imposed Rs50 thousand fine due to absence from court. Chief Justice inquired from AAG regarding construction on boundary while Syed Sikandar Shah claimed that works in the progress.

Moreover, Chief Justice observed that boundary wall was collapsed on directives of district Nazim, so why should not recovery will made from sell-out of his property while directed Additional Deputy Commissioner to appear on next hearing.
