SAR-E POL (TOLOnews): Residents of Sar-e Pol province have called for the establishment of new libraries and the provision of up-to-date books in the center and districts of this province.
They say that by providing more resources and equipping public libraries with new books, the culture of reading can be promoted among the youth.
“Our request of the Islamic Emirate and the Department of Information and Culture is to expand libraries so that young people can visit for reading and avoid wasting their time,” said Abdul Khaliq, a resident of Sar-e Pol.
“Books have great value. Someone who does not read or pursue education cannot even understand themselves, let alone others. A book is a lifelong friend of a young person and can have a positive impact on society,” said Shafiqullah, another resident of this province.
“Unfortunately, young people’s visits to libraries have decreased. As expected, they are not going to libraries for reading or developing their skills, and this rate is very low, “said Bismillah, a cultural activist in Sar-e Pol.
The Sar-e Pol Department of Information and Culture has pledged to make efforts to promote the culture of reading and provide facilities in this regard.
Faizullah Faiz, the head of the youth section of this department, said: “We have requested the Ministry of Information and Culture to facilitate the establishment of public libraries in all districts so that we can set up more libraries.”
According to the Sar-e Pol Department of Information and Culture, currently, three public libraries and two private libraries are active in this province.
