PESHAWAR: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is going to launch 3 days mega and unique event in the provincial metropolis titled “Sheen Peshawar” to be held next month from 18 to 20 November. The extravaganza is aimed at highlighting and preserving the rich culture, sports and artisan as well as public attraction of this historical city of South Asia.
KP Minister for Local Government Elections and Rural Development (LGE&DD) Sardar Faisal Amin Gandapur chaired meeting on Sheen Peshawar project at LG Secretariat Peshawar wherein various aspects of the 3-day event were taken into stock including projection of the cultural and religious historical sites, artisan, traditional sports, dances, arranging downtown tours,, arts festivals, music and food streets, light and sound shows, related security measures and cleanliness to make it a success story wherein certain necessary decisions were taken.
The meeting besides Secretary LG&RDD Syed Zaheerul Islam Shah, Special Secretary Muhammad Asif, Secretary LCB Arif Bsloch and Chief Planning Officer Siraj Munir was attended by senior officials from the departments of Sports, Culture, Archives, Museums, Tourism, Archeology, PDA, WSSP and Police.
After detail discussion as the event is scheduled on 18,19 & 20 November, it was decided that all the relevant departments, directorates and stakeholders will submit their plans along with financial proposals by October 31 wherein special meeting of all stakeholders will be held and each department and drectorate will present its plan for further perusal.
Sardar Faisal Amin Gandapur asked all the participants and authorities concerned to take the event as a challenge task and seek the sponsors from private sector to reduce financial burden on the government. As he said that the KP government is faced with the big challenge of rehabilitation of the flood affectees that is the foremost priority of his government. He said the affectees would not left alone and hence they are being compensated with cash amounts through online money transfers to enable them build their shelters and arrange foods for themselves.
The concept of Sheen Peshawar was infact proposed to the Chief Minister by Minister LGE&RDD. As per proposal, a series of events under Peshawar Revival Plan as soft component for branding Peshawar’s history, heritage, culture & sports are to be arranged. Responsibility of the event was then after assigned to the Minister LGE&RDD, Secretary LGE&RDD, DG PDA and Chief Capital Police Offcer (CCPO).
Minister LGE&RDD, explained that the 3 days event has been scheduled in the coming month on 18, 19 and 20 November, 2022, that will include sports and various traditional cultural events to preserve the valuable tradition and culture of not only the historical city of Peshawar but the entire province including the newly merged districts. He revealed that the event will be consisting of seven main components. Hence he assigned responsibilities to the relevant stakeholders to submit a detailed plan as per directions of the Chief Minister.
