President Zardari, Aleem Khan discuss development projects

LAHORE: President Asif Ali Zardari and Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan on Friday exchanged views on the country’s development projects.

According to details, Aleem Khan called on President Zardari at the Governor House in Lahore. On this occasion, both the leaders discussed the matters pertaining to improvement in the communication system. “There is a dire need for having modern and sustainable communication system,” the president said.

President Zardari had underscored the importance of development projects, saying, “The development projects are important to create opportunities of employment and steering the country’s economy towards prosperity.”

He said: “The development targets can only be achieved through integration.”

“All the institutions need to promote the bilateral cooperation for the sake of the country’s development and prosperity,” the president added.

Prominent among those who attended the meeting were Punjab Governor Saleem Haider, Nawab Shehzad.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) delegation, led by Raja Pervaiz Ashraf called on President Zardari in Lahore. During the meeting, the PPP leadership and President Zardari exchanged views on the country’s political and economic situation.

The matters pertaining to the forthcoming budget and parliamentary matters were also underscored.

Expressing his thoughts on the occasion, Zardari said, “Pakistan needs political stability and national consensus at this point. All the democratic forces need to stand united so that the country’s prosperity can be achieved.”

The president stressed the need for upholding the democratic principles, adding that serving the masses should be the topmost priority of everybody else.

Underscoring the potential of the country’s youth, President Zardari said, “The country’s youth should ensure their participation for steering the country towards progress.”

Prominent among those who were present on the occasion were Hassan Murtaza, Shahzad Cheema, Aslam Gul and Irshad Sial.
